Woolly Tales Part 2
Posted by plumsource under Countryside, Other Creative Stuff, Twit In The Country
The spinning lady called me back! She left a message. I don’t think she was stifling her laughter. I can hold my head up high now as I collected some more wool last night and I now have pretty much a whole carrier bag’s worth – woo hoo!
Can you tell from the second picture, which sheep most of the wool has come from? If I could have caught her, I would have pulled the rest off to save it from dragging on the ground. I think Mr. P might be taking his comments back about me being a shepherdess. We had a distinctly out of control moment when all of us went into the field to collect the wool. Unlike the first gathering expedition, there actually were sheep and lambs in the field where we were gathering.
I should have been more wary when I noticed Mr. P hanging back at the gate saying “Go on. After you. I’m not going in.” He and R did come in but kept well away from me as about 40 sheep and lambs came hurtling towards me, baa-ing at the tops of their voices. And what did I do? I really wish I’d had the nerve to fumble to get my camera out of it’s case and photograph this amazing sight but in reality I cacked myself, shook my lilac plastic bag in the air and said “shoo”. Pathetic really. But thankfully it worked. They all turned back in an instant. Quite hairy for a minute. Or should that be woolly? Sorry.
So, I’ve doubled my bounty. Will ring the spinning lady back tomorrow to see if she’ll help me on my mission. Mr. P thinks I might just get one sock out of it. Well he’ll be laughing on the other side of his cold face, when my one foot is really snug and warm next winter.
