2009_01150022I woke up most concerned that I was late for my 10am rendez-vous at the Post Office with Noel Gallagher. We’ve all got colds so sneezed and tissued our way through breakfast still half asleep. Not Noel, that was a dream. The night before’s dream was about my house being knocked down and replaced by a bungalow which turned out to be a tourist attraction with people buying nick nacks from the shop in my front room. Ahem… anyway, spent almost the whole day trying to make some sloe and apple jelly. Did it set? Did it heck. Tastes nice though.

Mr. P called me outside to look at our catastrophically blocked drains. I won’t go into details. There’s a brave man coming to sort it in the morning. He did say “not sure what time it’ll be as I’m going out tonight.” What a job, never mind with a hangover.

Looking forward to the snow coming. Hoping there will be enough for some great playing and great photos. I would love to buy an old fashioned wooden sledge but no doubt we’ll end up with a bright red placcy thing.

Lunch was going to be home-made hummus, with pitta bread and a greek salad. That is, until I realised I had no chickpeas and no pitta bread. R spent much of the day asking me & Mr. P if she could have a baby brother to play with. Then she made some really nifty outfits for Mowgli, Baloo and King Louie from cling film and then balanced some crisps on the sleeping cat’s head.

Oh yes, the buttons represent members of my family. Part of an exercise in self awareness we did on the residential weekend for my counselling skills course. I used to play with a jar of buttons when I was a kid, sorting through them all, making patterns and enjoying the colours. I saw a great button tin today I might put on my birthday list… That reminds me, I’ve really fallen in love with this cook book I got for Christmas. The writing’s a little bit soppy but the idea is that the recipes are all evocative of childhood memories, the pictures are beautiful and the chapters are arranged by colour. An inspirational creative mummy. Ooh yes, I’m chuffed to be included in this list of British mummy bloggers. It’s great there’s so many mummies out there communicating about the important minutiae of life.
